The vampire hunter Blade first appeared in Marvel Comics “The Tomb of Dracula” in 1978. Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan created the character, who started out in a supporting role, then later went on to become very popular.
A major motion picture based on Blade premiered in 1998. The film was Directed by Stephen Norrington and starred Wesley Snipes as the title character. Many considered this one of Wesley Snipes’ best roles, as he captured the stoic presence of the character perfectly.
The rated R comic book adaptation was a surprise hit and ushered in a new era not just for Marvel movies, but comic book related movies in general. The Blade franchise would later release two sequels; Blade 2 in 2002 and Blade Trinity in 2004.
After the Blade Movie Trilogy, Blade: The Series was released in 2006. The TV series ran for one season.
Actor Wesley Snipes has teased a return to Blade, as well as talks with Marvel Studios about possibly getting involved in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) as a different character. Also; if you don’t follow Wesley Snipes on twitter, do so now, he has a great feed that is full of positivity:
